MONEY FOR GUYS ON THE BLOCK BUT NO MONEY FOR UBIQUITOUS PILES OF GARBAGE

MISPLACED PRIORITIES AND DELIBERATE DECEPTION

Over the past few weeks the entire Roosevelt Skerrit cabinet has been going around the island using the country’s resources to perpetuate poverty and dependency. This practice of duplicity and deception is indeed the hallmark of the Roosevelt Skerrit administration. They have mastered the art of perpetuating poverty and maintaining economic slavery.

GARBAGE ALONG THE ROADWAY-SHAME
For 13 years Roosevelt Skerrit has been dishing out money to his party supporters, under the guise of supporting small businesses. Year after year hundreds of thousand dollars are supposedly handed out to village councils and party hacks for small businesses and yet there is no evidence of small business growth and development. In fact the more Mr. Skerrit continues to funnel the scarce public resources into this fake small business depot we see increasing levels of unemployment, no economic development and an escalation in poverty.

1 BUSINESS FOR EVERY 10 VILLAGERS IN PAIX BOUCHE?

Many people are saddened and disappointed in the recent statement by the Parliamentary Representative for the Paix Bouche constituency, Honorable Roselyn Paul. A "bido leglise"- a woman who was considered descent and god fearing. Last week the Honorable Roslyn Paul announced that she had money for the guys on the block in Paix Bouche. She also declared that she distributed over $300,000 to over a hundred small businesses in Paix Bouche. Really Roselyn-One business for every 10 people in Paix Bouche?
Roselyn’s pronouncement is definitely an indication that she has taken a plunge into the deep end and is now a graduate from the Roosevelt Skerrit School of deception and "Clientelism."The truth is, money was distributed in the village of Paix Bouche but not really for small businesses at all. Some bus drivers received $7000, there were instances where several members of the same family received checks of 5- 7 thousand dollars; even school kids got $5,000 checks. One guy received money so he could go to Saint Martin to shop.

If Roslyn Paul has the slightest bit of “bido leglise" conscience left in her ,she must remove herself from this large scale corruption and go to confession before the lent is over. The sacrament of penance should be free particularly when it is alleged that money was also given for the ongoing construction of the Catholic Church in Portsmouth. If so the priest may have every reason to singSomething Happening

While Roosevelt Skerrit, Roselyn Paul and others are marauding all over the island and busy pulling wool over the eyes of the impoverished people, rats and cockroaches are having dance parties among piles of garbage all over the Nature Island.”  As we drove from Roseau to the village of Paix Bouche via the Town Of Portsmouth, we were startled by the intermittent piles of garbage along the road – we even saw piles of garbage stored in and outside of bus stops. Roselyn Paul ought to have seen the many piles of garbage between Portsmouth and Paix Bouche.

YES WE CARE?
We must also report that since the government received a donation of two garbage trucks the garbage situation has improved, somewhat. However the situation on the ground demands that much more resources need to go into garbage control and disposal, as oppose to corruptly doling out money to undeserving entities and people under the guise of small business development.  After all Dominica is promoted as the Nature island of the Caribbean yet the Roosevelt Skerrit and his cabinet seem heedless about the garbage and rat infestation problem on the island.
We take no pride in exposing our dirty laundry but we strongly believe that shame still has the ability to trigger meaningful changes and hopefully Paul Alexander, Hubert Volney ,Michael Davis et al will have no reason to ask for evidence.

  1. We are always hearing that there just aren't enough trucks to pick up the garbage. Has anybody ever heard of a thing called a night shift? Those trucks that still work don't care if it's night or day ... they will run just the same. And if the men can't find the garbage they can just follow there noses to one of the mountains of garbage that litter the roads in the north east.
